Compatibility with other software
A utility to read UDF-formatted discs comes with Sony Picture Motion Browser. This UDF reader is not compatible with some software. When you start installing Sony Picture Motion Browser, a message may appear asking you to uninstall some software. When you uninstall the software, that program is deleted from your PC and can no longer be used. Examples of incompatible software

More information about these compatibility issues is provided below. Please read the following before installing Sony Picture Motion Browser. Users who have Adaptec DirectCD Ver.3 or Adaptec Easy CD Creator Ver.4 When you start installing Sony Picture Motion Browser software, a message requesting to uninstall Adaptec DirectCD (or Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4). Please select [Yes(Y)]. The installation of Sony Picture Motion Browser continues without uninstalling Adaptec DirectCD (or Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4) even if you select [Yes(Y)]. Users who have Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic To install all of the software provided with Sony Picture Motion Browser, you must uninstall Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic. When you uninstall Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic, that program will be deleted from your PC and can no longer be used.
You will be able to use all features of Sony Picture Motion Browser by updating Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic. Please refer this page for more details on the Updater.
If you do not uninstall or update Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic, you will not be able to use the some features of Sony Picture Motion Browser.
Users who have UDF disc reading/writing software other than the above
While you install Sony Picture Motion Browser, a message may appear asking you to uninstall the disc-writing software or UDF packet-writing software that you currently use. The message is alerting you to compatibility issues between your current software and the UDF disc-reading utility that comes with Sony Picture Motion Browser. Please install MyDVD for Canon using one of the following procedures.
When a message appears requesting to uninstall the software, select [Yes(Y)] and uninstall the software that you are currently using. All softwares that come with Sony Picture Motion Browser are installed.
We recommend that you to upgrade to the latest disc-writing software. For more details, please refer here.
Notes to install Sony Picture Motion Browser software on Windows 2000 OS
If you are using Windows 2000 with no SP installed, SP1 or SP2 installed, and your Windows Installer version has not been updated to 2.0 or later, you must update the Windows Installer while you are installing Sony Picture Motion Browser. In this case, the following message appears during installation.
In some cases, you must update the Windows installer before installing Sonic UDF Reader. In such case, the update program is automatically started. Please continue installation after completing the update program and restarting the system. The Sonic UDF Reader installation is automatically started after the system is restarted. [OK] [Cancel] |
Click [OK] and update the Windows installer.
The following message appears when the Windows installer is updated.
You must restart the system for the configuration, updated by the Windows installer, to take effect. Select [Yes] to restart the system and [No] to manually restart the system later. [Yes] [No] |
Click [No] and continue to install other software coming with Sony Picture Motion Browser.
You must only install the UDF Reader after installing all software and restarting the computer. Follow the steps below to install the UDF Reader.
(1) Logon as system administrator account. (2) Load the "Handycam Application Software" disc, coming with the product, in the drive. (3) "Handycam Application Software" automatically appears. Click [Exit] to complete. (4) Open My Computer window and right-click the drive loaded with the "Handycam Application Software" disc. (5) Select [Explorer] from the pull-down menu. (6) Double click and open the "DIApp" folder in the window. (7) Then, double click and open the "UDFReader" folder. (8) Double click the Setup.exe in the window and execute setup. The file name is "Setup". That extension of that file name is hidden. (9) Install software according to following messages on the screen. (10) Restart computer when a message requesting to restart the computer appears.

Troubleshooting of Sony Picture Motion Browser If you are unable to mount the AVCHD disc. An AVCHD disc may not be read by a computer with previous version of UDF Reader. Follow the steps below to valid the UDF Reader.
(1) Right-click the drive loaded with the AVCHD disc after opening My Computer. (2) Select [Properties] from the pull-down menu. (3) Click the [UDF Reader] tab from Properties. (4) Check [Valid UDF Reader of drive] checkbox. (5) Close the properties window.
Note: You cannot use the UDF Reader on more than two drives at the same time.
If you cannot remove a removable drive safely. While you are using an AVCHD disc with Sony Picture Motion Browser, you cannot remove the AVCHD disc from drive by selecting [Safely Remove Hardware]. Follow the message on the screen and remove the disc after exiting the software. A removable drive may be unrecognized if you disconnect it without using [Safely Remove Hardware]. If you remove an AVCHD disc by disconnecting a USB cable connected to the computer without using [Safely Remove Hardware] while you are using Sony Picture Motion Browser, the AVCHD disc may be unrecognized when you reconnect it to the computer the next time. The AVCHD disc will be recognized by restarting the computer but ensure that the cable is disconnect only after clicking [Safely Remove Hardware].
