Thank you very much for purchasing the Sony DVD drive. This service is to upgrade your RecordNow! that comes with Sony DVD drive.

Please note that this service is not available for those who purchased the RecordNow! Retail version or RecordNow! come with other products. This service is not available for customers who purchased an upgrade kit for the RecordNow! Retail version.
  
Version Upgrade Target Software
The following versions of RecordNow! that come with the Sony DVD drive (DRU-500A/500AX/510A/510AK/530A, DRX-500UL/500ULX/510UL/510ULK/530UL) are subject of a version upgrade.

 
  • RecordNow! Version 4.5

  • RecordNow DX Version 4.5

  • RecordNow DX Version 4.6
  • RecordNow DX Version 4.60

  • RecordNow DX Version 4.62

  • RecordNow! Version 6.51

  • RecordNow! Version 6.70(Build 670B47A)
Users who have RecordNow! 6.70 Build# 670B52B don't need to update your software. RecordNow! 6.70(build# 670B52D) and 6.71(build# 670B52D) are same software but only version number and build number are different.

The version upgrade tool cannot be used for software other than the above version. Your RecordNow! version can be confirmed by selecting [Help] > [Version Information].

When you upgrade the software, the version and build number are updated as shown below.
  • RecordNow! Version 6.71 Build 670B52D(2004 Feb. 11th)
Note:
Some UIs, operation screens and features of RecordNow! version 6 differ from version 4.x. If you want to go back to the previous version after version upgrade, uninstall RecordNow! 6and install the previous version with the CD/DVD that comes with your DVD drive.

Differences between Version 6 and older versions

Video CD
Video CD authoring is available with MyDVD software.

CD Text
CD Text format is not supported.

Audio Track Extract
The audio track data can not be extracted to the hard disk drive. You
can extract audio tracks to CD from an Audio Project.

Multipul drive support
Can not burn to the multipul drives at the same time.

Create a new folder on the disc
On data project, you can create a new folder on the disc.

Delete the file on the disc
You can delete(hide) the file recorded on the disc.

For more information about the new RecordNow! 6, refer to the Help file (Help file appears by double clicking the download file).

Version Upgrade Process

Follow the steps below to upgrade the version of RecordNow!

1. Confirm the update manager.
Confirm that the Sonic Update Manager is installed on your PC.

  • Select [Start] > [Control Panel].

  • Execute [Add or Remove Application]. A list of programs installed on your PC appears.

  • Confirm "Sonic Update Manager".
    Confirm that the "Sonic Update Manager" appears in the program list.

2. When the "Sonic Update Manager" appears

When the "Sonic Update Manager" appears in the program list, go to Step 4. If not, go to Step 3.

 
3.When the "Sonic Update Manager" does not appear

When the "Sonic Update Manager" does not appear in the program list, you must install the "Sonic Update Manager".
  • Click the following [Download] button to download the Sonic Update Manager installer.

  • Double click the "SonyDrive_SUM29.exe" that you downloaded and install the Sonic Update Manager.


4. Start RecordNow!

Start RecordNow! that has been installed on your PC.


5. Execute [Confirmation of Update]

[Execute [Confirmation of Update] from [Help] menu and connect the Update Server. The Update Manager automatically searches for the new version. When the new software is available, the following window appears.


If no update software is available, this window will not appear. In such case, end the operation because no update is required.


6. Execute Update
Click [Next] and download the updater. When download is completed, the update is automatically executed.





7. Complete Update
The following window appears when the update is completed.


Click [Finish] and exit Update.
 

8. Restart

Restart your PC before using the updated software. The version upgrade of RecordNow! is completed.
